1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, password and role (parent or tutor).
- Tutor profile: qualifications, experience, subjects and classes taught, teaching mode, monthly fee, city and locality, preferred areas, bio, profile photo, social links, and identity documents (e.g. Aadhaar) submitted for verification.
- Parent profile: your requirements, your child's class/subjects and any details you choose to share when posting a requirement or contacting a tutor.
- Content you submit: job posts, applications, callback/enquiry requests, reviews, ratings and messages.
- Payment information: when you purchase a Pro subscription, payments are processed by a third-party payment gateway. We receive confirmation of payment but do not store your full card or banking details.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and interactions.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies & analytics).
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and provide the Platform.
- To match parents with suitable tutors and display tutor profiles in search results.
- To verify tutor identities and maintain trust and safety.
- To process Pro subscriptions and manage related features.
- To communicate with you — service updates, enquiries, notifications and support.
- To generate helpful content such as a suggested tutor bio (see AI features).
- To analyse and improve the Platform, and for security and fraud prevention.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. AI features
To help tutors complete their profiles, we may use third-party artificial-intelligence services to generate a suggested "About/Bio" from the profile details a tutor provides. Only the relevant profile details are sent for this purpose. Tutors can edit or replace any AI-generated text.
4. Cookies & analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, and analytics cookies (including Google Analytics) to understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect core features such as login.
5. How we share your information
- With other users: a tutor's public profile (name, photo, qualifications, subjects, area, fee and reviews) is visible to visitors and parents. Contact details are shared only when the relevant party unlocks or shares them, or when you initiate contact. Identity documents are never shown publicly.
- Service providers: we share information with trusted providers who help us operate the Platform — hosting, email delivery, push notifications, analytics, payment processing and AI services — under obligations to protect your data.
- Legal & safety: where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of users, the public or TutorPik.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Verification & identity documents
Tutors may submit identity documents (such as Aadhaar) so we can verify their profile. These documents are used solely for verification, are stored securely, are not displayed on public profiles, and are not shared except as needed for verification or as required by law. Please share only what is necessary; you may mask sensitive numbers where possible.
7. Children's data
The Platform is intended for use by adults (parents/guardians and tutors). Tuition often involves students who are minors. Any information about a child should be provided by a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for that information and for supervising the child's tuition. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us information without such consent, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, and thereafter as required to meet legal, tax, accounting or security obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When no longer needed, information is deleted or anonymised.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password confidential.
10. Your rights & choices
Subject to applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may:
- access and review the personal information in your account;
- correct or update inaccurate information (most fields can be edited in your profile);
- request deletion of your account and associated personal data;
- withdraw consent or object to certain processing;
- opt out of non-essential communications.
To exercise these rights, or to raise a grievance, contact us at support@tutorpik.in. We will respond within a reasonable time.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
